From Proto-Albanian *wragtja, related to rrah.[1] Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *raT(ś)i-, from Proto-Indo-European *ureh1ǵ(h)- (to strike, beat). Cognate to Ancient Greek ῥάττω (rháttō, to strike, beat).[2]
