Etymology

From Proto-Uralic *wixe- (to bring, carry). Cognate with Mansi виӈкве (wiňkwe), Erzya виемс (vijems), Estonian viima, Finnish viedä. Often considered a doublet of Hungarian vesz (to buy, take), but this may not be correct.
