zëmër
See also: zemër
Albanian
Etymology 1
Either from zemër with the meaning of 'centre of the day', or from the same root of Greek ημέρα (iméra, “day”), although the initial anlaut z- remains unexplained. A borrowing from Greek διήμερον (diímeron, “period of twenty-four hours”) is not excluded.[1]
