Buzău
English
Romanian
Etymology
Uncertain. Its name may be derived from Hungarian *Bozó, from Old Church Slavonic *Бъзовъ (*Bŭzovŭ, “[river] of the elderberries”), from бъзъ (bŭzŭ, “elderberry”). However, the Slavic name might be an adaptation via folk etymology of earlier Ancient Greek Μουσεος (Mouseos), from a Paleo-Balkan language.
