Etymology
Probably from Proto-Uralic *puďa-w- (“to break off”) ( + *-t'ak), whence also Proto-Samic *poδōtēk (“to break”), Udmurt [script needed] (piĺ-), Eastern Mari [script needed] (puδešta-) [1].
