bërsi
Albanian
Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *britśiā, closely related to Latin brisa (“husks of grapes”). The further origin is uncertain; perhaps also cognate to Ancient Greek βρύτεα (brútea). According to Pokorny (1:144), Latin brisa (“husks of wine”) is an Illyrian loanword.[1] Conversely, Orel considers it a borrowing from Thracian *brūtea.[2]
Noun
bërsi f (indefinite plural bërsi, definite singular bërsia, definite plural bërsitë)
