erbat
Maltese
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ˈɛr.bat/
- Rhymes: -ɛrbat
Numeral
erbat m or f
Usage notes
- The attributive forms are used before counted nouns. The long form is used with broken plurals that begin with a consonant cluster. To the noun i- is then prefixed: tfal (“children”) → erbat itfal (“four children”). Irregularly this also happens with jiem: erbat ijiem (“four days”).
- The use of the long form in the above contexts is predominantly observed, but for the most part is not entirely obligatory, meaning that erba' tfal may also be heard.
