• From Afrikaans pik (“pitch (black material)”), from Dutch pik, pek (“pitch (black material)”).
• From piccanin, a form of pickaninny (“black child”).

pekkie (plural pekkies)

1. (South Africa, ethnic slur, offensive, derogatory) A black person.
