Likely a borrowing from an Indo-European satem-language. Cognate with Biblical Hebrew סוּס (sus, horse) and Classical Syriac ܣܘܣܝܐ (sūsyā, horse). Compare also Arabic سِيسِيّ (sīsiyy, pony).
