Likely a borrowing from an Indo-European satem-language. Cognate with Biblical Hebrew סוּס (sus, “horse”) and Classical Syriac ܣܘܣܝܐ (sūsyā, “horse”). Compare also Arabic سِيسِيّ (sīsiyy, “pony”).
