traición

A semi-learned form, using the borrowed suffix -ción, and based on the stem of the Old Spanish form trayçón, from Latin trāditiōnem, singular accusative of trāditiō (or formed from the Old Spanish verb traer, itself from Latin trādere, and the suffix -ción)[1]; compare Catalan traïció, cf. also French trahison, Italian tradigione. Doublet of the more recent borrowing tradición.
