vârtej
Romanian
Etymology
Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic врътежь (vrŭtežĭ), from врьтѣти (vrĭtěti, “to turn around”) + -ежь (-ežĭ), from Proto-Slavic *vьrtěti. A link to Latin vertigium is highly improbable.
