Etymology

Several people created the idea of the white-blue-white flag shortly after the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine started on 24 February 2022, first used in social media.

According to some of its creators, the replacement of the lower red stripe in Russia's flag with white represents removal of violence and autocracy from Russian society.
