I'm a published novelist (House of Apollo; ISBN: 978-1732959644) who has become increasingly aware of the fact that it is becoming harder and harder to make art - even traditional forms of art, like prose fiction - without having a least a smattering of technical knowledge. Tech not only defines the physical world in which we live, but also has a major impact on the language we use to describe that world. My interest in developing an understanding of code and computer hardware is ultimately driven by my desire to find a way to write better books.

Entirely by accident, I got my hands on a Raspberry Pi Pico, and I am determined to figure out how to use it. I've also considered both C and MicroPython and have settled on C as being the better language for my purposes: I'm looking to understand the hardware, not just create effects with it. This will make the learning curve steeper, of course, but I want to try and I'm bull-headed enough that maybe something will happen.
