Usage notes

«Μιλάει σοβαρά;» ρώτησε την Μαρία. (“Is he serious?” he asked Maria.)
«Ναι, σίγουρα», αποκρίθηκε. (“Yes, certainly,” she replied.)
Compare this with the παύλα ( ‒ ), which is also used for recording Greek speech.
