كاسه

North Levantine Arabic

Etymology

Most plausibly an extended form of Arabic كَأْس‎ (kaʾs, “cup, glass, wine glass”), whence also North Levantine Arabic كاس‎ (kās, “glass for alcoholic drinks”). Alternatively from Persian کاسه‎ (kâse, “bowl”), which may, however, be an Arabic borrowing (though this is not certain).

Noun

كاسه (kāse) f (plural كاسات‎ (kāsāt))

  1. small bowl
