Semi-learned borrowing from Classical Syriac ܩܠܝܠ ܛܝ̈ܡܐ‏‎ (qallīl ṭīmē). From the construct form of ܩܲܠܘܼܠܵܐ‎ (qalulā, “lightweight”) + ܛܝܼܡܹ̈ܐ‎ (ṭīmē, “values; prices”), as a subsitute for the common Persianism ܐܲܪܙܵܢ‎ (arzān).
