Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀫𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀺 (muṭṭhi) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit मुष्टि (muṣṭi), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *muštíš (“fist”). Doublet of मुष्टि (muṣṭi) and मुश्त (muśt).
