Usage notes

As a symbol for the full moon, this character may be displayed with a face or craters, especially as an emoji.
Dalton's symbol for oxygen, on the other hand, is a simple circle. Appending the variation selector ︎ will override emoji formatting. Technically the font color should be set to red, ⟨🌕︎⟩, though it's not uncommon for that detail to be omitted. Another possibility in Unicode for Dalton's symbol is the full or medium 'white' (empty) circles ⟨◯⟩, ⟨⚪︎⟩, depending on which matches the other element symbols in size. (Cf. the solid black symbol ⟨🌑︎⟩ for carbon and the notes there for more general Unicode support.)
