1. (passive suffix, archaic) Added to a front-vowel verb to form a verb with a passive meaning.

   szül (“to give birth”) → születik (“to be born”)

• (passive suffix) Variants:

  -atik is added to back-vowel verbs ending in a consonant + t and most monosyllabic verbs

  ad (“to give”) → adatik (“to be given”)

  -etik is added to front-vowel verbs ending in a consonant + t and most monosyllabic verbs
