From Proto-Turkic *KAk- (“to hit, knock, tear”).[1] Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (qaq-, “to hit”), Kyrgyz кагуу (kaguu, “to knock”), Southern Altai кагар (kagar, “to knock”), Uzbek qoqmoq.
