Usage notes
- When used as an independent verb, the imperfect form of kien has the sense of the future: Inkun miljunarju. – “I will be a millionaire.” The present tense is expressed by the subject pronouns without a verb: Jien miljunarju. – “I am a millionaire.”
- As a subordinate verb, the imperfect of kien is used in the normal fashion: Irrid inkun miljunarju. – “I want to be a millionaire.” The same is true of the perfect: Kont miljunarju. — “I was a millionaire.”
