    Etymology
    
From German Wienerwurst, from Wiener (“of Vienna, Viennese”) + Wurst (“sausage”), because sausages were originally made in Vienna, Austria.
In Germany today this sausage is known as Wiener Würstchen (“small sausage from Vienna”), but in Vienna it is called a Frankfurter (“from Frankfurt”).
