From Medieval Byzantine Greek ἐρωτεύομαι (erōteúomai), from ἔρωτας (érōtas) + -εύω/-εύομαι (-eúō/-eúomai, suffix forming verbs). ἐρωτ- from the accusative τὸν ἔρωτα (tòn érōta) of the Ancient Greek noun ἔρως (ho érōs).[1]
