Etymology

From Proto-Slavic *gǫditi, Proto-Slavic *gǫsti. Cognate with Old Church Slavonic гѫдити (gǫditi), Serbo-Croatian гудити, Russian гуди́ть (gudítʹ), Ukrainian гуді́ти (hudíty), Upper Sorbian hudźić.

Verb

гъ̀дя (gǎ̀dja) pf (imperfective гъдувам)

  1. (intransitive, dialectal) to play a melody/refrain (usually on gadulka)
  2. (intransitive, dialectal) to hit the right note/melody (during music playing)
Inflection

Sometimes:

  • гусла (gusla, type of harp)
  • гъдулка (gǎdulka, type of fiddle)
  • гудя (gudja, to play on gusla)
