миҙгел

Bashkir

Etymology

Cognate with Kazakh мезгіл (mezgıl), Kyrgyz мезгил (mezgil), Tatar мизгел (mizgel), Uyghur مەزگىل (mezgil).

From *mezgil (season), a regional innovative term. Akhmetyanov suggests this is an alteration of *menzil (act or place of staying; one passage on a route), from Arabic مَنْزِل (manzil, act or place of staying). Compare Uzbek manzil (stopping place, camp; one passage between such camps).
