Etymology 3
Possibly derived from English plantation.
The usage of "план" for "marijuana" was derived from a song by the Soviet musician Vladimir Vysotsky, in his song "Вот раньше жизнь" ("That's Life Before") where he wrote: "Покуришь план, пойдешь на бан..." (You will smoke a plan, you will go to the ban [Crimean dialect slang for "a popular venue full of people"]). It was later popularised by hippies as they started using marijuana.
