Etymology

Borrowed from Arabic مَحَلّ (maḥall), which is from the verb حَلَّ (ḥalla, to untie), as in untying a pack horse or camel to make camp. Doublet of মহল্লা (moholla), হালাল (halal), and মহল (mohol).
