From Old East Slavic къжьдо (kŭžĭdo), from Proto-Slavic *kъžьdo. Cognates include Russian ка́ждый (káždyj), Belarusian ко́жны (kóžny), Polish każdy, not to be confused with a false friend Russian ко́жный (kóžnyj, (of) skin; dermal).
