Inherited from Old East Slavic семь (semĭ), седмь (sedmĭ), from Proto-Slavic *sedmь (“seven”), from *sedmъ (“seventh”), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *septḿ̥ (“seven”). Cognate with Russian семь (semʹ).
