From Proto-Turkic *öpke (lung, anger); cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (öpkä), Kazakh өкпе (ökpe), Kyrgyz өпкө (öpqö), Azerbaijani öfgə, Uyghur ئۆپكە (öpke) and Tuvan өкпе (ökpe). Doublet of اویكن (öyken, “lung”).
