Etymology

From Proto-Turkic *bïdïk (moustache); cognate with Azerbaijani bığ, Karakhanid بِذِقْ (bïδïq), Kazakh миық (miyq), Kyrgyz мыйык (mıyıq), Tatar мыек (mıyek), Crimean Tatar mıyıq and Kumyk мыйыкъ (mıyıq).
