كوی

Ottoman Turkish

Etymology

Uncertain; perhaps from Proto-Turkic *kon-, *ko- (to put), whence قونمق (konmak, to settle, perch) and قومق (komak, to put). Alternatively, Nişanian proposes a derivation from Middle Persian [script needed] (kōy, street).
