پارسال

Persian

Etymology

A compound of پار (pâr, last) + سال (sâl, year).

The first component is from Old Persian [script needed] (paruva), from Proto-Iranian *pṛHwo-, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *per- (cognates include English before), and the second component is from Middle Persian ŠNT (sāl, year), from Old Persian 𐎰𐎼𐎭 (θ-r-d /θard-, θarad-/, year), from Proto-Iranian *carHdáh, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ćarHáts.
