From Persian کهربا (kahrobâ), from Middle Persian khlpʾd (kah-rubāy); also borrowed into Classical Syriac ܩܗܪܒܝ‎ (qahrḇāy), Arabic كَهْرَبَاء (kahrabāʔ, electricity) and كَهْرَمَان‎ (kahramān, amber).
