  1. to run to, to lead to
    この(みち)広島(ひろしま)(つう)じている
    Kono michi wa Hiroshima ni tsūjiteiru.
    This road leads to Hiroshima.
  2. to communicate, to reach
    携帯(けいたい)電話(でんわ)(つう)じなかった
    Keitai denwa ga tsūjinakatta.
    I couldn't reach him/her on the mobile phone.
  3. to understand
    言葉(ことば)(つう)じて(こころ)(つう)じないなぜ
    Kotoba wa tsūjite mo kokoro ga tsūjinai no wa naze?
    Why can we understand each other linguistically but can't understand each other's feelings?
