- used to form a feminine noun equivalent, such as that of a profession, or the wife of a male with a certain profession (e.g. piscar (“fisher(man)”) + -oanji → piscãroanji (“woman that fishes or fisherman's wife”))
- used to form the feminine of some animals, often with an augmentative effect (e.g. ursã (“bear”) + -oanji → ursoanji (“(large) she-bear”))
