Etymology
From *gȍspoda (“dominion, property”) + *-ãřь. In some dialects, the word is reshaped (by folk etymology) as **gosǫdařь (whence Russian госуда́рь (gosudárʹ)) as if a derivative of Proto-Slavic *sǫdъ (“judgement, verdict”).
