Etymology
From Proto-Turkic *el (“hand”) + *-ig. Very similar to Proto-Turkic *ellig (“fifty”). First written form Old Turkic 𐰠𐰏 (l²g, “elig”).
Compared to Proto-Tungusic *ŋāla (“hand”) by EDAL.
