  1. from Proto-Albanian *wretšönj-, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱens-, forming a doublet of them,
  2. from Early Proto-Albanian *wrefenj-, from Ancient Greek φαίνω (phaínō),
  3. from Proto-Albanian *refenj-, from Latin referre through Vulgar Latin.
