From Spanish cuajo, from Hokkien, possibly 看好 (khòaⁿ-hó) or 看護 (khàn-hō͘ / khòaⁿ-hō͘ / khan-hō͘) or (khòaⁿ hó͘, literally watching the tiger). Compare Tagalog kuwaho, Kapampangan kuwaho, English Khanhoo.
