Akin to Persian جره باز‎ (jorra bâz), Middle Armenian ճուռակ (čuṙak), Byzantine Greek τζουράκιον (tzourákion) also meaning falcons.[1] Possibly also the source of زَارُوك‎ (zārūk), denoting a kind of dhow of about 20 metres in length and 4 to 6 m across the beam used until the 1970s for trafficking.[2]
