Borrowed from Persian حیران (heyrân), from Arabic حَيْران (ḥayrān). Compare Gujarati હેરાન (herān), Hindustani حَیران / हैरान (hairān), Sindhi حَيرَانُ / हैरानु, Punjabi ਹੈਰਾਨ (hairān) / حیران (ḥerān), Bengali হয়রান (hoẏoran), Phalura hairaán / حئیران.
