NDS

Chinese

Etymology

Initialism of 內地生/内地生 (nèidìshēng). Also a pun on Nintendo DS, a gaming console, often abbreviated to NDS. The gaming console is foldable (摺/折), whereas the students are not socializing with others (摺/折). Hence the double entendre between foldable and not socializing with others, both written as 摺/折.
