Etymology

From Middle Persian dwšytn' (dōšīdan, to milk), from Old Persian *dáuxšatiy, ultimately from Proto-Iranian *dáwxšati (to milk). Whence also دوختن (duxtan). Cognate with Baluchi دوشگ (dóšag), Northern Kurdish doşîn.
