Cognate with Ancient Greek πλήθω (plḗthō, to fill), πληθώρη (plēthṓrē, fullness) whence English plethora, πολῠ́ς (polús, many) whence English poly-; Latin pleō (fill), plenus (full) whence English replenish etc, Latin plūs, German viel (a lot), English fill.
