Etymology

A borrowing, via other European languages, probably originally from Spanish or Catalan Andorra, a word of disputed origin. The most probable hypothesis is that it comes from Basque andurrial (shrub-covered land), but it is also possible that the source is Arabic الدرا (the forest) or Spanish andar (to walk).
